Bells Blair Athol Distillery PitlochryBlair Athol Distillery Pitlochry is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. It was established in 1798 by John Steward and Robert Robertson.

An easy 1/2 mile walk from Pitlochry town centre on the main road from Pitlochry centre to Perth. There are good safe pavement paths to follow the whole way.

Interesting the spelling of Athol, is the original spelling and has one 'l'. Unlike the modern spelling of Atholl with two 'l's.

The original name was the 'Aldour'. Named after the Alt Dour burn (stream) from which the distillery draws its pure water.

The 12 year old single Blair Athol Single Malt Whisky, has a mellow deep-toned aroma and a strong fruity flavour with a smooth finish. This can only be bought at the Bells Blair Athol Distillery shop at the distillery. It is one of our favourite Scottish Whisky, beautifully smooth.

The Mashtun Bar - offers a whisky and cheese pairing, using local Strathearn cheese. Ask for details at the Mashtun Bar.

Bells Distillery Pitlochry story

Another claim to fame for the Blair Athol Single Malt Whisky. It is one of the whiskies, that goes in to the ever popular Bell's Blend. It is the most popular blended whisky in the UK. The whisky is a blend of several fine grain and malts from Speyside and the Islands which is created into Bells Blended Scotch Whisky by master blenders here at Blair Athol Distillery Pitlochry.

Demand for whisky was such that in 1973 the distillery added a further two stills to make a total of four stills, which you can see today.
